NNPC Extends Fuel Station Hours, Assures 30-Day Supply Amid Scarcity

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has announced that fuel stations will operate longer hours to aid the supply and distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, across the country. This move comes as the country faces fuel scarcity, with long queues at filling stations in major cities like Abuja.

The NNPC has attributed the fuel scarcity to logistics challenges and flooding, which have affected the berthing of vessels at jetties, truck load-outs, and transportation of products to filling stations. The company has also warned against panic buying and hoarding of petroleum products.

Despite the challenges, the NNPC has stated that it has over 1.5 billion litres of PMS in stock, equivalent to over 30 days of sufficiency. The company is working with relevant stakeholders to resolve the logistics issues and restore seamless supply to affected areas.

As the supply and distribution of PMS continues to improve, the NNPC has called on motorists to shun panic buying, as the queues in filling stations across several states, including Lagos and the FCT, have thinned out
