Akwa Ibom Unveils ARISE Youth Employment Portal: A Digital Pathway to Job Opportunities and Skill Development

The Akwa Ibom State Government recently introduced the ARISE Youth Employment Portal, a digital initiative aimed at tackling youth unemployment by centralizing job listings and resources. Accessible at www.employment.akwaibomstate.gov.ng, the portal targets unemployed or underemployed youth indigenes of Akwa Ibom, providing access to verified job opportunities and skill development resources in both public and private sectors. Launched by the Ministry of Labour and Productivity, it’s a part of the state’s broader ARISE Agenda for youth empowerment.

Key Features and Eligibility

The platform includes:

  • Job Listings: Candidates can browse and apply to a variety of roles.
  • Job Creation Database: This feature connects job seekers with prospective employers and training programs.
  • Application Tracking: Candidates can monitor the status of their applications.

Eligibility requires candidates to be Akwa Ibom indigenes, unemployed or underemployed, and to provide necessary documentation, including:

  • Proof of Indigeneship
  • National Identification Number (NIN) or Voter Identification Number (VIN)
  • Valid bank details, educational qualifications, and contact information.

Application Steps

  1. Register: Create an account on the portal with your email, phone number, and password.
  2. Complete Profile: Submit your NIN or VIN, indigeneship proof, bank details, educational qualifications, and job preferences.
  3. Apply: Verified candidates can view and apply for job listings.
  4. Track Applications: Use the portal to follow application progress, receive notifications, and engage with interview invites.

Important Notes

  • No Fees: Registration and job applications are free of charge.
  • Verification for Employers: Employers undergo verification to prevent fraudulent listings, protecting job seekers from scams.
  • Engagement Encouraged: Candidates are advised to keep their profiles current, apply regularly, and respond promptly to notifications.

The state government emphasizes that while the portal offers a robust employment resource, job placement depends on job availability, candidate profiles, and employer needs. Regular engagement with the portal maximizes candidates' employment opportunities.
