Soldier Among Four Killed by Suspected Cultists in Benue Attacks
Four individuals, including a soldier, have reportedly been killed by suspected cultists in the North Bank area of Makurdi, Benue State. The violence occurred during separate incidents on Thursday and Friday nights, with eyewitnesses indicating that the victims were not affiliated with any cult group but were innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire.
Nura Umar, chairman of a local vigilante group, confirmed the fatalities, stating that the attacks involved a soldier and two young men. The police acknowledged the presence of cult activities in the area but reported only one civilian death. Increased security measures have been deployed to restore order as tensions rise in the region due to ongoing cult clashes.
