EFCC Clarifies Decision to Withhold Identity of Owner of Seized 753 Duplexes in Abuja
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has explained its decision not to disclose the identity of the owner of the recently seized 753 duplexes in Abuja. The agency stated that the ongoing criminal investigation prohibits naming individuals not directly linked to the properties' title documents.
EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale emphasized that revealing names prematurely would be unprofessional and that the forfeiture process adhered to legal frameworks, specifically under the Advance Fee Fraud Act.
The properties were forfeited following a court ruling, with investigations continuing against a former government official believed to have acquired them through unlawful means.
