Falana Declares Dele Farotimi's Arrest Illegal, Cites Criminal Libel Allegations

 

Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, has revealed that human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi was arrested in Lagos for alleged criminal libel.

 Falana condemned the arrest as illegal, emphasizing that Lagos State has decriminalized defamation. 

He called for Farotimi's immediate release from police custody, referencing a Supreme Court ruling that supports his claim. 

The police stated that the arrest was made following a petition regarding defamation and cyberbullying allegations against Farotimi.
