Northern Group Rejects Tax Reform Bills, Citing Concerns Over Societal Divisions
The Coalition of Northern Groups has firmly opposed the proposed tax reform bills, arguing they could exacerbate societal divisions and economic disparities between regions.
During a town hall meeting, CNG Gombe Coordinator Mustapha Deba highlighted that the reforms favor states with higher VAT revenues, predominantly in the South, potentially harming Northern states economically.
The group called for more extensive consultations with stakeholders to ensure a fair and inclusive tax system that promotes national unity rather than division.
They emphasized the need for policies that address the unique challenges faced by the Northern region
