El-Rufai Claims Ribadu Has "Serious Amnesia," Releases Evidence of NSA's Alleged Past Criticism of Tinubu

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has entered the dispute between National Security Advisor (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu and Hajia Naja’atu Muhammad, claiming Ribadu is suffering from "serious amnesia". This follows Ribadu's demand for a public apology and retraction from Muhammad over a TikTok video where she alleged that Ribadu, during his tenure as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), had criticized Bola Tinubu (now President) as one of Nigeria's most corrupt governors.

El-Rufai is supporting Naja’atu Muhammad’s claim that Ribadu had, in fact, made the allegations while heading the EFCC in 2006. El-Rufai says that Ribadu made those statements during his screening at the Senate in 2006 and after a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in 2007. To back his claim, El-Rufai posted a news clipping from the Daily Trust in February 2007 with the headline: ‘We’ll frustrate Tinubu, Kalu, others — Ribadu’.

El-Rufai stated that the conclusions of the Federal Executive Council in 2006, which can be subpoenaed from the Cabinet Secretariat of the SGF’s office, contain the allegations. He further added that in a special FEC meeting in 2006, Ribadu's EFCC made similar presentations accusing many sitting officials.
