TUC Threatens Nationwide Protest Over Telecom Tariff Hike

 

The Trade Union Congress (TUC) has announced plans to proceed with a nationwide protest and strike over the recent 50% telecom tariff hike approved by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

 This decision comes despite the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) suspending its own planned protest following discussions with the federal government. 

The TUC is joining forces with other unions to express dissatisfaction with various economic policies, including electricity tariff hikes and highway tolls.

 The telecom tariff increase has been criticized as insensitive, given Nigeria's current economic challenges.
