NBA Calls for Applications from Qualified Lawyers for Federal High Court Bench Appointments

 


The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has invited qualified legal practitioners to apply for appointment to the Federal High Court Bench. This initiative follows a request from the Honourable Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Hon. Justice John T. Tsoho, to fill six judicial vacancies in the following states:

  • Cross River State

  • Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

  • Kwara State

  • Nasarawa State

  • Sokoto State

  • Zamfara State

Application Requirements:

Interested candidates must submit an Expression of Interest to the NBA National Secretariat by Monday, 24th March 2025. The application should include:

  • A copy of the applicant’s Curriculum Vitae

  • A copy of the applicant’s Call to Bar Certificate

  • Evidence of payment of Bar Practicing Fees (BPF) for the past 10 years

  • Evidence of payment of NBA Branch Dues for the past 10 years

  • Evidence of attendance at NBA Conferences

  • Evidence of membership in NBA Sections or Fora

  • Certified true copies of at least 6 judgments in contested cases conducted by the applicant within the past 5 years

  • A letter of good standing from the Chairman of the applicant’s NBA Branch, confirming adherence to the qualities outlined in Rule 4(4)(i)(a), (b), and (d) of the National Judicial Council Guidelines for the Appointment of Judicial Officers

Additionally, an electronic copy of the Expression of Interest and accompanying documents should be uploaded via the NBA's designated portal. 

After receiving applications, the NBA may publish the names of interested candidates and invite comments from its members regarding the suitability of the applicants.
