Giménez’s Last-Gasp Header Ends Inter’s Perfect Champions League Run

Atlético Madrid produced a dramatic finish on Wednesday, as José María Giménez rose highest in the 93rd minute to head home a corner and secure a 2–1 win over Inter Milan. The stoppage-time strike ended Inter’s flawless start to the UEFA Champions League campaign. 

Earlier, Atlético had taken the lead through Julián Álvarez, but Inter pulled level in the second half thanks to a precise finish from Piotr Zieliński. Just when it seemed the match might end in a draw, Giménez’s late header — delivered from a corner by Antoine Griezmann — sent the home crowd into raptures. 

The win boosts Atlético’s hopes of reaching the knockout stage, while Inter are left rueing their first defeat of the group — a harsh end to what had been a perfect run.
