JOHESU suspends 84-day nationwide strike

The Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) has suspended its nationwide strike after 84 days of industrial action, directing health workers across the country to resume duty immediately.

The decision followed negotiations between union leaders and the Federal Government, during which both parties reached agreements on key welfare issues affecting health workers, including salary structure adjustments and future collective bargaining discussions.

The strike, which began in late 2025, disrupted services in many public hospitals nationwide and placed additional pressure on private healthcare facilities. With the suspension now in effect, medical services are expected to gradually return to normal across the country.

JOHESU stated that the suspension will allow time for the government to implement the agreements reached during the negotiations.
