Makinde’s Chief of Staff Resigns, Governor Appoints Replacement

The Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, Segun Ogunwuyi, has resigned from his position.

Ogunwuyi’s resignation took effect on October 12, 2026, following his decision to step down from the position he had occupied under the Makinde administration.

In his resignation letter, Ogunwuyi expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde for giving him the opportunity to serve the state. However, he did not disclose any specific reason for his decision to resign.

Following the development, Governor Seyi Makinde appointed Akinwale Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, as the new Chief of Staff.

Akinwole, who previously served as Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, is expected to assume the responsibilities of the office and continue working with the administration.

The resignation has also generated political speculation, with reports suggesting possible political realignment involving Ogunwuyi. However, such claims have not been officially confirmed by Ogunwuyi or the governor’s administration.
