Rivers Crisis: APC Alleges Fubara Violated Tinubu's Peace Agreement

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Siminalaye Fubara of violating the peace agreement brokered by President Bola Tinubu regarding the political crisis in Rivers State. Chief Tony Okocha, the Chairman of the APC Caretaker Committee in Rivers State, leveled the accusation, asserting that Fubara has not been sincere in implementing the peace deal. Okocha made these remarks while addressing journalists in Abuja.

He criticized the governor for giving conflicting statements and not adhering to the commitments made during the peace agreement. Okocha emphasized the need for Fubara to uphold the terms of the proclamation he willingly accepted in the presence of President Tinubu.

Okocha highlighted a crucial issue related to the presentation of the state's budget, stating that the governor must fulfill this obligation, as the 2024 budget for Rivers State has not been presented. He underlined that governing the state without a budget is not acceptable.

The APC Caretaker Committee Chairman reminded that Fubara had expressed gratitude to Tinubu for his intervention in the crisis and had pledged to abide by the terms of the peace deal. The political discord in Rivers State had arisen from a conflict between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.
