Ebonyi PDP Caretaker Chair Oruruo Declares No Factions, Vows to Unite Party

Barrister Steve Oruruo, the caretaker committee chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, has declared that there are no factions within the party in the state. Oruruo made this assertion during a stakeholder meeting convened to address the leadership crisis rocking the state chapter of the PDP.
According to Oruruo, the meeting, held in Enugu, was aimed at "Engagement for Peaceful and Transparent Congresses." The caretaker chairman expressed optimism that peace has returned to the party, stating that the era of "anyhowness is gone and every member of the party will have a say."
Oruruo acknowledged that there had been a "kind of fuss" within the party, but he assured that the caretaker committee is "equal to the task" of containing the problem through "constant and sustained advocacy." He emphasized the party's preference for "peace and building bridges instead of walls."
The caretaker chairman also addressed the recent defection of Senator Anyim Pius Anyim from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that Anyim had indicated his resignation from the party several months ago. Oruruo expressed confidence in the PDP's ability to welcome back those who have defected, as the party remains the "biggest party in West Africa and Africa as a whole."
The meeting was attended by key PDP stakeholders, including the national vice chairman of the party, Chief Ali Odefa, and the former governor of Ebonyi State, Senator Sam Egwu, who was represented by Fred Onwe.
Oruruo's declaration of no factions within the Ebonyi PDP and his commitment to uniting the party members is a significant step towards resolving the leadership crisis that has plagued the state chapter. As the caretaker committee continues its efforts, the party's ability to present a united front and offer a viable opposition to the ruling APC in Ebonyi will be crucial.
