Rivers State High Court Restrains Chief Judge and Assembly Clerk from Engaging with Amaewhule-Led Faction

A Rivers State High Court has issued an ex parte order restraining the Chief Judge of Rivers State and the Clerk of the Rivers State House of Assembly from dealing with the Martins Amaewhule-led state House of Assembly. The court's injunction specifically bars the Chief Judge and Clerk from recognizing or engaging with the Amaewhule-led assembly members.

The order was issued in response to the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, where there are two factions claiming to be the legitimate state House of Assembly. The Amaewhule faction has been at odds with the Fubara faction, with the latter attempting to impeach Governor Nyesom Wike.

The court's decision aims to maintain the status quo and prevent further escalation of the political tensions until the substantive matter is heard and determined.
