President Tinubu Chairs Inaugural Council of State Meeting

President Bola Tinubu has convened his first Council of State meeting since taking office, which is currently underway at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja. This significant gathering includes prominent figures such as former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari, along with several state governors and former Chief Justices of Nigeria. Notably, former President Olusegun Obasanjo is absent from the meeting, while two former military leaders are participating virtually.

The Council of State serves as a crucial advisory body to the President, comprising former presidents, heads of government, and key legislative figures. The agenda for this meeting remains unspecified, but it follows recent nationwide protests addressing economic hardships faced by citizens. Issues such as food security and national security are expected to be discussed, with ministers also invited to provide updates on government policies before the Council deliberates and offers advice.
