Woman and Children Escape Death as Vehicle Rams into House in Jigawa

 

In a harrowing incident in Dutse, Jigawa State, a mother and her two children narrowly escaped death when a vehicle veered off the road and crashed into their home. The collision resulted in a fire that engulfed their residence and spread to three neighboring houses, leading to the destruction of four homes in total. 

The accident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday at Elpies Street, Mobile Quarters, Dutse. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Shi’isu Adam, the driver, Abdullahi Abubakar Sadiq, 41, was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Sadiq had been handed the car keys by Muhammad Galadima, 32, despite admitting he did not know how to drive. 

The quick response of the police, firefighters, and local residents was instrumental in preventing further casualties. The fire was extinguished, and no lives were lost. Both suspects have been arrested and are currently in custody for investigation. The police have assured that justice will be served, and those responsible will be held accountable. 

This incident underscores the critical importance of responsible driving and the dangers of driving under the influence. Authorities have urged all drivers to exercise caution and responsibility, especially during festive seasons when the risk of accidents is heightened. 

The community has been commended for their swift action in assisting the victims and helping to contain the fire, preventing further destruction. The police have appealed to residents to report any suspicious or reckless behavior on the roads to prevent such incidents in the future.
