Dismissed CBN Staff File N30 Billion Lawsuit Against Central Bank
Former employees of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have initiated a class-action lawsuit seeking N30 billion in damages following their dismissal during a mass layoff in 2024.
The plaintiffs allege that the CBN violated internal policies and Nigerian labor laws, claiming their terminations lacked proper consultation and fair hearing as mandated by law.
They argue that the dismissals, issued under the guise of "reorganisational restructuring," were arbitrary and unconstitutional.
The court has encouraged both parties to seek an amicable resolution, with the next hearing scheduled for January 29, 2025.
