Growing Calls in Benin for French Troop Withdrawal Amid Rising Anti-French Sentiment

 

In Benin, there is a mounting demand for the withdrawal of French military troops due to increasing anti-French sentiment.

 This movement gained momentum after a devastating terrorist attack on January 8, 2025, which killed 30 Beninese soldiers.

 Protesters argue that France's military presence has failed to enhance security and instead prioritizes French strategic interests over Benin's needs. 

Civil society groups like the Patriotic Youth Council and the Grain of Love NGO have organized demonstrations, calling for an end to French military intervention. 

Another mass protest is planned for January 25, 2025, to amplify these demands
