Telecom Tariff Hike Set to Begin in Nigeria Today

Starting today, January 10, 2025, Nigerians will face increased charges for voice calls, SMS, and internet data plans.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is expected to announce these new tariffs following extensive negotiations with telecom operators. 

Minister of Communications, Dr. Bosun Tijani, confirmed that while a tariff increase is necessary due to rising operational costs, it will not reach the 100% hike some operators proposed. 

The exact percentage increase will be disclosed shortly as the government balances sustainability with affordability for consumers.
