Ebonyi Teachers Embark on Indefinite Strike as Seven LGAs Fail to Pay Salaries"

 

Teachers in seven local government areas of Ebonyi State—Edda, Ebonyi, Ezza South, Ezza North, Ishielu, Ivo, and Ohaukwu—have begun an indefinite strike due to unpaid salaries. 

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) initiated the action after several local government chairmen failed to clear the backlog of teachers' salaries despite earlier directives. 

The strike started on February 6, 2025. 

A meeting is scheduled to resolve the issue following an initial failed attempt due to the absence of NUT leadership
