US‑Iran War Sparks Petrol Price Surge, Labour Demands Relief
The ongoing US‑Iran conflict has driven up global oil prices, causing petrol prices in Nigeria to surge to over ₦1,200 per litre in many areas. In response, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called on the Federal Government to introduce tax relief, cost-of-living allowances, and wage support to help workers cope with rising living costs. Labour warned that without swift intervention, the fuel price spike could further increase transport fares, food prices, and economic hardship for citizens.
