Enugu governor Mbah meets with Tinubu to urge release of Nnamdi Kanu
Enugu governor Barr Peter Mbah met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the presidential palace on Thursday to discuss the need to free Biafra Indigenous Peoples (IPOB) leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
He told reporters that the meeting with the president was in line with President Tinubu's promise in his inaugural address that it would bring healing and reconciliation to the nation.
Prime Minister Mbah, who said it was a heartwarming meeting, said partnership and cooperation with the federal government is essential to implement the government's agenda for Enugu, especially in the areas of economy, infrastructure, security and revitalization of dormant assets. I said yes.
``I have come here to honestly convey to the President the warmest greetings and best wishes from the Enugu government and people. You may already know that I made some great promises to people in my election campaign. And we also expressed a big vision.
"We have a bold vision of what the new administration can achieve in the next four years, which will see the economy grow from its current level to $30 billion." Cooperation and partnership. And we've identified the federal government as a key partner.
"What many people don't know is that Enugu has vast mineral resources, and these resources lie underground and are unproductive. Therefore, we believe that the partnerships we want to build with the federal government can turn these assets into productive assets.
“Of course, you know that the level of growth we are proposing is being driven by the private sector, and the private sector wants ease of doing business. One of them is security and infrastructure, so we had a conversation with the President like this:
“And finally, we also talked about the liberation of Nnamudi Kanu. You know we are collectively demanding their release. And we basically sympathize with that, and look to the president who promised in his inaugural address to bring healing to his people and to serve them with compassion.
"So we told him this would be a sign of the government extending a hand of friendship to Ndigbo," he said.
