Spain 2-1 England: Oyarzabal's Late Strike Secures Record Fourth Euro Title for La Roja

Substitute Mikel Oyarzabal scored the winning goal in the 86th minute to lead Spain to a 2-1 victory over England in the Euro 2024 final.

Spain took the lead early in the second half through a clinical finish by Nico Williams, but England equalized in the 73rd minute with a superb strike from substitute Cole Palmer.

However, Oyarzabal pounced in the closing stages, sliding home Marc Cucurella's pass to secure Spain's record fourth European Championship triumph.  The victory denied England their first major trophy since 1966 and extended their wait for a major international title.

Spain were the deserved winners, dominating possession and creating the better chances throughout the match. Nico Williams was named the Player of the Match for his influential display on the wing.

The result means Spain have now won seven consecutive major tournament finals, cementing their status as the outstanding international team of the 2020s. For England, it was another heartbreaking defeat in a major final, leaving Gareth Southgate's side still searching for that elusive trophy.
