INEC Urges Political Parties to Nominate Fresh Candidates for Bye-Elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has appealed to political parties to nominate only fresh candidates for upcoming bye-elections.
This call was made by INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu during the first quarterly meeting with political parties.
The aim is to prevent the creation of "bye-election chains," where parties repeatedly nominate the same candidates who have lost or resigned, thereby ensuring a more dynamic and inclusive electoral process256.
This directive aligns with INEC's efforts to enhance electoral integrity and promote new leadership opportunities
