Intersociety Reports: 180 Killed and N21 Billion Extorted in South-East Nigeria in Two Months

 



According to a recent statement by Intersociety, a human rights organization, at least 180 individuals have been killed in the South-East region of Nigeria over the past two months. 

The organization also reported that approximately N21 billion was extorted from residents during this period.

Intersociety highlighted ongoing violence and criminal activities, attributing the deaths and extortion to various armed groups operating in the area. 

The organization called for urgent government intervention to address the deteriorating security situation and protect citizens from violence and exploitation. 

This alarming report underscores the pressing need for effective measures to combat crime and restore safety in the South-East.
